Mary Hardy, VP of Healthcare at Ayasdi, notes in a recent blog, “This discussion of whether or not Value-Based healthcare is the right approach has moved passed the concept phase, the debate phase and even the acceptance phase. It is here, it is now and it will fundamentally alter how healthcare is delivered, priced, measured and reimbursed. Value-Based care is replacing the model in which volume and profitability have been the measuring sticks of performance.”
She continues, “Despite the pressure applied by both private and public payors, change has been slow. Part of this is to be expected – the current processes, organizational structures and incentives have been around for decades. There is , however, a lever for change.”
