The hospitals have signed a memorandum of understanding to explore potential collaborative opportunities. Although they did not specify which clinical areas were being discussed, both hospitals are known for their orthopedic services, according to the report.

In an email to staff, New England Baptist CEO Trish Hannon said the strategic plan includes building “several important partnerships that will foster the growth of [Baptist] as the premier provider of musculoskeletal care throughout New England,” according to the report.

Hospital officials emphasized that they are not talking about a merger, according to the report.
