Baltimore-based Sinai Hospital has begun using Sepsis ImmunoScore, an FDA-authorized AI diagnostic tool designed to help clinicians identify patients who have or are at risk of developing sepsis.
The tool analyzes up to 22 clinical and laboratory measurements and generates a risk score assessing whether a patient has or is at risk of developing sepsis within 24 hours, according to a Sept. 29 news release.
The tool is integrated into Sinai Hospital’s EHR and is used alongside clinical assessments, laboratory findings and physician judgment. Sinai Hospital was one of 10 research centers nationwide that contributed patient samples to a database of more than 100,000 samples used to develop and validate the technology.
