athenahealth to Acquire Proxsys, Expand Care Coordination Services

athenahealth, a provider of cloud-based practice management, electronic health record and patient communication services, announced today that it will acquire Proxsys, a provider of could-based care coordination services between physicians and hospitals, according to an athenahealth news release.

The acquisition will expand athenaCoordinator, athenahealth’s emerging care coordination service, according to the release.

Based in Birmingham, Ala., Proxsys offers care coordination services, including order transmission, referral management, hospital patient registration and insurance pre-certification.
