At Hialeah (Fla.) Hospital, two babies entered the world — R’Mir Demetri Peavy at 2:52 p.m. local time and Yuliet Martinez Vega at 3:32 p.m., according to a KSAT report. The babies weighed 7 pounds, 14 ounces, and 6 pounds, 10 ounces, respectively.

“Congratulations to the families and special thanks to our team of employees and physicians who are caring for all of our patients during this storm,” the hospital said in a statement obtained by the TV station. “We know this is a day our new moms and dads and staff will never forget.”

At Florida Hospital for Women in Orlando, Talya Booker’s daughter, Adeluna Palacios, was born at 9:56 a.m. local time Sunday — about two weeks early, reports The Apopka Voice. Adeluna weighed 6 pounds, 6 ounces.

At least seven babies also entered the world as of Sunday afternoon at Florida Hospital Celebration (Fla.) Health, according to the report.

But not all women who gave birth amid Hurricane Irma made it to a hospital. One Miami woman delivered her own baby at home with help over the phone from paramedics, a dispatcher and a physician from Miami-based Jackson Memorial Hospital, reports The Washington Post.

The delivery took place Sunday morning as emergency personnel were unable to get to her due to the storm, the report states. The woman and her new daughter eventually made it to the hospital once conditions were safer.
