After 6-Year Legal Battle, Construction to Start on New Hospital in Florida

Construction will soon begin on the $130 million Bethesda West Hospital in West Boynton, Fla., after six years of legal challenges by rival hospitals, according to a report by the Sun Sentinel.

Bethesda Healthcare System first proposed the new 80-bed hospital in 2002, won state regulators’ initial approval in 2003, and then the legal appeals began. In May 2009, with the court cases completed, the state issued a certificate of need.
