Affinity patients receiving health coverage through Cigna were notified via letter earlier this year the payer would not be accepted past Jan. 1. However, the agreement avoided the potential coverage drop.

According to the report, Michael Echols, director of business development for Affinity, said the health system was “pleased with the conversations we had with Cigna executives and that they have recognized the value Affinity brings to this local healthcare marketplace through quality care and cost reduction models.”
