The collaboration is designed to offer self-insured customer benefits of coordinated care, but is also available to fully insured customers, according to the news release. “Working with organizations like Carolinas HealthCare System, we’re helping our members receive the care they need to live healthier, more productive lives,” Maggie Maxwell, president of Aetna’s operations in North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Arkansas, said in the release.
CHS and Aetna will work together to review trends from the model’s members and create plans to improve them where needed. Examples of desired trends include:
• Increasing prescribing of generic drugs
• Maintaining CHS’ benchmark levels for hemoglobin and lipid testing
• Improving CHS’ performance for breast cancer screening
The collaboration began April 1.
