Three Midwest children’s hospitals have received a total of $125 million in investments and joined the Golisano Children’s Alliance.
Akron (Ohio) Children’s Hospital will receive $50 million, Dayton (Ohio) Children’s Hospital will receive $40 million, and Avera Health in Sioux Falls, S.D., will receive $35 million from philanthropist and entrepreneur Tom Golisano, according to an April 20 alliance news release.
Each hospital will become an active member of the Golisano Children’s Alliance and rename its facilities. Akron Children’s is renaming its Akron campus to Akron Children’s, Golisano Campus; Dayton Children’s is renaming its main campus to Golisano Comprehensive Care Campus; and Avera Health is renaming its children’s hospital to Avera Golisano Children’s Hospital.
The hospitals will bring the total number of alliance facilities to 15. The alliance was founded in October 2025 as a national network of children’s hospitals committed to improving pediatric healthcare. Mr. Golisano has given a total of $578 million through the alliance and aims to expand the alliance to 40 hospitals over the next few years.
