10 states with the best, worst dental health

WalletHub has released its rankings of states with the best and worst dental health, and Midwestern states earned top scores while Southern states did not fare well.

WalletHub's rankings are based on two key dimensions: dental habits and health, and oral health. Among the 23 metrics used are: share of adults and adolescents who visit the dentist in a year, dental treatment costs and share of adults with low life satisfaction due to oral condition.

Of the 50 states and Washington, D.C., here are the 10 states with the best dental health:

3. Illinois

4. North Dakota

5. Connecticut

6. Massachusetts

7. Michigan

8. District of Columbia

9. Iowa

10. Ohio

And here are the 10 states with the worst dental health:
