Tower recruits top cardiothoracic surgeon from Jefferson

Rohinton Morris, MD, chief of the cardiothoracic surgery division at Philadelphia-based Jefferson Health, will become Tower Health's cardiothoracic surgery chief on April 15. 

Since 2010, Dr. Morris has led the cardiothoracic surgical division at Jefferson, where he is also co-director of the cardiovascular service line and medical director at the Jefferson School of Perfusion and Extra-Corporeal Technology. 

He is also a member of the department of surgery's executive committee and a professor of surgery at the Sidney Kimmel College of Medicine.

"We are fortunate to have recruited Dr. Morris to Tower Health," Bernie Boulanger, MD, executive vice president and CEO of West Reading, Pa.-based Tower Health's provider enterprise, said. "He brings a wealth of experience and strong leadership to our health system which will be a great benefit to the patients we serve."

Dr. Morris is a longtime lecturer and professor whose work has been published in more than 70 peer-reviewed publications. He  is currently a Master of Public Health candidate at George Washington University in Washington, D.C.

Over the last quarter, Tower has hired more than 60 physicians across the following service lines: cardiology and cardiovascular surgery, oncology, primary care and neurology.
