The William G. & Mary A. Ryan Center for Heart & Vascular Medicine at Loyola’s Maywood campus includes a hybrid operating room, three cardiac catheterization suites and echocardiography and nuclear imaging services. Loyola is the first hospital in Illinois to staff a heart attack rapid response team of interventional cardiologists, nurses and technicians who are on staff 24/7. The center is also committed to advancing cardiovascular research, and teams at the center are studying high blood pressure, coronary artery disease and congestive heart failure. Loyola is also the first hospital in Illinois to implant the Medtronic CoreValve System in March 2014. The medical center was named one of the top 50 hospitals for cardiology and heart surgery by U.S. News & World Report for 2014-15, and it has received Magnet designation from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
