Currently, WVU Medicine Children’s is housed on the sixth floor of J.W. Ruby Memorial Hospital. The new facility will be connected to the flagship hospital, but will bring in expanded space for children’s services.
The construction project will add 150 beds to the hospital and house both neonatal and pediatric intensive care units.
“This is a necessity, not a nicety,” Gordon Gee, WVU president and chairman of the WVU Health System board of directors, said. “The children and families we serve will be relying on our friends and alumni, our businesses, the people of West Virginia, and the Mountaineer Nation – wherever they may be – to pitch in and to make this project a reality. We’re launching this campaign right now, right here.”
The new tower is expected to take three years to complete.
