Virginia hospital raises $18M for expansion

Kilmarnock, Va.-based Rappahannock General Hospital has raised $18 million from a community fundraising campaign to invest in repairs and expansion for the rural hospital, the Richmond Times Dispatch reported Feb. 27.

This week, the hospital will open an expanded emergency room; the first major renovation for Rappannock General since it opened in 1977. 

The community fundraising campaign started in April 2021 with two major gifts from the estates of Marvin Camp and Faye Hannum.

Originally, the campaign’s goal was $15 million raised; that target has now been revised to $20 million.
