Vanderbilt University Medical Center Names New Leader

Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, Tenn., has named Jeffrey Balser, MD, PhD, as vice chancellor for health affairs, according to a Vanderbilt University news release.

Dr. Balser will succeed Harry Jacobson, MD, as the medical center’s top administrator following approval by the university’s board of trust in April.

Currently, Dr. Balser serves as dean at Vanderbilt’s School of Medicine. Prior to that, he held the position of associate vice chancellor for research for the medical school.

Dr. Balser is an alumnus of Vanderbilt, receiving his MD and PhD in pharmacology from the university in 1990.
