Vandalia Health celebrated the grand opening of Vandalia Health Mon Harrison Neighborhood Hospital in Bridgeport, W.Va., a $26 million facility expanding emergency and inpatient care in Harrison County.
The two-story, roughly 38,000-square-foot hospital will begin seeing patients Sept. 29, according to a Sept. 22 health system news release. It brings Vandalia Health to 18 hospitals, including affiliates Highland-Clarksburg Hospital and Minnie Hamilton Health System.
Mon Harrison includes a 24/7 emergency department with eight treatment rooms and board-certified physicians, 10 private inpatient rooms for short-stay care, and CT, MRI, ultrasound and X-ray capabilities along with on-site laboratory services, according to the release. The second floor is reserved for future clinical expansion.
“Mon Harrison represents an important new chapter for Vandalia Health in Harrison County and another significant investment in the healthcare infrastructure of north-central West Virginia,” Krystal Atkinson, DNP, RN, chief administrative officer of Vandalia Health Mon Medical Center and senior vice president of Vandalia Health said in the release.
The hospital is modeled after Vandalia Health Mon Marion Neighborhood Hospital in White Hall, W.Va., which opened in 2021. Christopher Edwards, DO, serves as chief administrative officer of both neighborhood hospitals.
