Chapel Hill, N.C.-based UNC Health broke ground Oct. 6 on a 48-acre medical campus in West Cary, N.C.
Five things to know:
1. The first phase is a six-story, 192,000-square-foot medical office building with a 900-space parking deck, which is expected to open in summer 2028, according to a system news release.
2. The building will offer cancer care, rheumatology, heart and vascular care, urology, obstetrics and gynecology, dermatology and orthopedics, plus imaging, lab and pharmacy services.
3. The system plans to break ground on a 152-bed hospital on the campus in 2028 and open it in early 2032.
4. The hospital is budgeted at about $565 million and the medical office building at about $199 million, a UNC Health spokesperson told Becker’s.
5. The campus will add to UNC Health’s network of 20 hospitals and more than 900 clinics and is expected to eventually employ about 1,000 people. The region is projected to add more than 40,000 residents by 2035, the release said.
