The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees approved the initiation of design and construction of several projects for Louisville-based UK HealthCare.
Four things to know:
1. The projects for UK King’s Daughters in Ashland, Ky., and Portsmouth, Ohio represent an estimated $335 million investment in patient care over the next five years, according to a Sept. 18 health system news release.
2. At the Ashland campus, three floors will be added to Parkview Patient Tower 2, which currently has six floors. The additional floors will house 150 additional inpatient beds.
3. Other approved Ashland projects include renovations and expansions of cardiovascular operating rooms, the inpatient pediatric unit, the main operating room, the labor and delivery unit and laboratory services. The pediatric project will create a 12-bed unit, while the cardiovascular project will add a second hybrid operating room.
4. In Portsmouth, King’s Daughters Ohio will begin a project to increase emergency and urgent care capacity and add space for diagnostic and outpatient services.
