Aurora, Colo.-based UCHealth and Altamonte Springs, Fla.-based AdventHealth are proposing adjacent hospital projects in Broomfield, Colo., NPR affiliate KUNC reported Jan. 26.
Both proposals are in conceptual phases and Broomfield officials are expected to begin the review process in February, according to the report.
A UCHealth spokesperson told Becker’s that the northern Denver metro area has grown in recent years along with the healthcare needs of the community. The system is working with Broomfield leaders and residents on plans for a health campus that would include a hospital, specialty clinics and mixed-use elements such as retail and housing, as well as green space and trail connections.
In a letter to city planners, UCHealth said the new hospital is expected to employ 500 physicians, nurses and staff members, which could grow to 700 within a few years of opening, according to the report. The hospital would be roughly 330,000 square feet. The medical building on the campus would be approximately 140,000 square feet.
UCHealth’s goal is to break ground on the project this year and open the facilities in 2029, the spokesperson told Becker’s.
AdventHealth’s plan calls for a five-story, 443,880-square-foot hospital with an adjacent office building that would be 61,120 square feet, according to the report.
