The expansion will add 18 suites, 25,000 square feet for trauma care and 80,000 square feet for pharmacy and lab services. It will allow the hospital to care for over 55,000 patients each year, a 12 percent increase from 2021.

Construction will begin in the fall and will complete in 2024.

“Over 50 percent of our admissions come through our emergency department, so it’s essentially the front door of our hospital,” Methodist Richardson president Ken Hutchenrider told the publication. “We are growing to allow our ED to more effectively serve our growing region.”
