AMIGO is the first operating room in the world to combine all forms of advanced imaging modalities, including MRI, PET/CT, ultrasound, x-ray fluoroscopy and angiography, in one suite, according to the release. The suite’s intraoperative image guidance will enable physicians to study less invasive surgical and interventional techniques. Most patients treated in AMIGO are participating in research studies on imaging use, surgical protocol and patient outcomes.

The suite is funded by BWH capital investments and grants from the National Institutes of Health.
