Nurses were originally expected to strike at 10 Sutter Health hospitals.
Sutter Health officials and the California Nurses Association have been in contract negotiations for more than a year. Each hospital negotiates its own contract with nurses.
Sutter Health officials have denied any proposed changes to the nurses’ sick days, but a nurse on the bargaining unit of Alta Bates Summit Medical Center in Oakland, Calif., said the hospital was trimming paid leave days by 12 to 17 total, according to the report.
