The  254,000-square-foot hospital will offer a range of medical services and house a 24/7 emergency room and maternity care suite. The new hospital is slated to have 123 beds with the ability to expand to 291 beds.

Plans also call for building a 143,000-square-foot medical office building on the campus.

Construction is slated to begin in September, with the campus opening in May of 2024.

“Wadley Regional plays a vital role in Texarkana as one of the region’s largest employers and taxpayers, while serving as a central hub for patients, clinical experts and other partners to better the community’s health, making this new facility a testament to the city’s dynamic and forward-thinking strategic growth,” said Sanjay Shetty, MD, president of Steward North America.

Steward Health Care is based in Dallas.
