St. Louis Children’s Hospital and WashU Medicine will open a new outpatient pediatric specialty care center in Wentzville, Mo., in late 2027.
Five things to know:
1. The three-story, 133,000-square-foot center will offer pediatric primary care and specialty services across more than 20 areas, including cardiology, hematology, oncology, neurology, neurosurgery and orthopedics.
2. It will also house a pediatric urgent care center — the organizations’ first in the area — a four-bed pediatric sleep lab and a young athlete center focused on sports medicine and rehabilitation.
3. Mark Lowe, MD, PhD, interim head of the WashU Medicine department of pediatrics, said the expansion aims to extend the systems’ reach westward so children can access primary and specialty care without traveling far from home.
4. The facility will be the third specialty care center that the two organizations have opened in the St. Louis area. The first two locations opened in 2015 and 2021.
5. St. Louis Children’s Hospital, part of St. Louis-based BJC HealthCare, is the sole pediatric teaching hospital for WashU Medicine.
