SSM Health set to unveil new Wisconsin mental health unit

St. Louis-based SSM Health has opened a new mental health stabilization unit at its hospital in Ripon, Wis., Channel 3000 reported Sept. 26.

The health system received $158,000 through the Wisconsin Department of Administration to construct the new unit.

The new unit will be for patients dealing with mental health issues or substance use problems who don't qualify as candidates for inpatient care.

"In many cases, though they can't be admitted into a hospital, they face great uncertainties, returning home without guidance and important resources set in place for them," Tiffany Parker, director of SSM Health Greater Fond du Lac region behavioral health hospital-based services, told the publication.
