San Diego-based Scripps Health on June 1 opened a new, $664 million tower at Scripps Memorial Hospital La Jolla.
The eight-story facility includes 188 inpatient beds, bringing Scripps Memorial La Jolla’s total bed count up to 495. The hospital previously had 426 licensed beds. The tower will house comprehensive labor and delivery services, operating rooms with advanced technology and private patient rooms.
“About 3,200 babies are delivered at Scripps La Jolla each year,” Ronald Salzetti, MD, department chair of obstetrics and gynecology for Scripps Clinic, said in a news release. “The opening of the North Tower ensures that those infants and their mothers will continue to receive the very best care possible in a place that was built with the future in mind, allowing for services and technology to evolve as medicine continues to advance.”
