Reading Health System opens surgical facility

Reading (Pa.) Health System unveiled a 476,000-square-foot surgical center on its main campus.

The Reading HealthPlex for Advanced Surgical & Patient Care will add 150 private patient rooms and house 24 operating rooms. Six of the operating rooms will be hybrid capable and eight will be procedure rooms.

The HealthPlex includes a 17,500-square-foot expansion of Reading’s emergency and trauma department. Sixteen additional emergency treatment rooms and three additional trauma bays will be housed in the department. 

The building is topped with an 88,000-square-foot green roof.
