The hospital services will encompass cancer treatment from diagnosis, surgical, and medical treatment options, including chemotherapy and radiation. The new radiation oncology suite will include a clinical area with a private entrance and designated parking for patients, according to an Oct. 24 news release.
Portsmouth Regional Hospital’s medical director of hematology-oncology, Devon Evans, MD, said they are grateful that the expanded services will help keep patients close to home.
“Having radiation oncology next door at the hospital will help ease anxiety and the burden of travel, which is good news for patients and their families,” Dr. Evans said.
The hospital is expected to be open in late 2023, according to the release.
