Columbus-based OhioHealth Pickerington Methodist Hospital has kicked off a $65 million expansion of its emergency department with an additional inpatient unit.
The hospital, which is part of Columbus-based OhioHealth, anticipates the expansion to open in late 2028, according to a March 23 news release shared with Becker’s.
The 57,000-square-foot, two story expansion will add 28 treatment rooms for a total of 44, one additional resuscitation room for a total of two, one additional triage room for a total of two, two intake rooms, and 16 inpatient beds for a total of 24.
Kevin Lutz, DPM, president of Pickerington Methodist, said in the release that the facility expanded from a medical campus to a hospital in 2023. Its emergency department saw just over 44,000 patients in fiscal year 2025.
“This expansion will allow us to continue to deliver a great experience for patients,” Dr. Lutz said. “Additional inpatient beds will allow for faster patient admissions and decrease congestion in the emergency department, ensuring we can provide timely and efficient care when our patients need it the most.”
