Winston-Salem, N.C.-based Novant Health has received state approval to build its first hospital in Union County.
The system plans to open Novant Health Wesley Chapel Medical Center, a 32-bed facility in Monroe, N.C., with completion expected in 2030, according to an April 15 health system news release.
The proposed capital expenditure is $346 million, according to the certificate of need application log.
The facility will include an emergency department, procedure rooms, diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, labor and delivery, general medicine and surgical specialty care, with space to expand.
Novant Health said the hospital will support a continuum of care alongside its existing primary and specialty care clinics in the region.
