Gastonia, N.C.-based CaroMont Health has announced plans to build a new neighborhood hospital in Cleveland County, N.C., pending state certificate-of-need approval, with a projected opening in 2030.
The proposed neighborhood hospital would serve emergency care, short-stay inpatient and observation care, surgical and endoscopy services, and full-service imaging and laboratory departments, according to a June 16 news release.
CaroMont said it will file a certificate-of-need application with the state to utilize 18 of the 86 additional hospital beds the North Carolina State Medical Facilities Plan has identified as needed in Cleveland County, citing high occupancy at existing area facilities.
The project would expand CaroMont’s presence in Cleveland County, where the health system already operates outpatient and physician services.
