Receiving this status is a prerequisite to gaining Level I trauma center status from New York state. ACS-verified Level I trauma centers have demonstrated the ability to provide all patients 24/7 access to a trauma surgeon, operating room and every subspecialty of surgery. They have also shown a commitment to preventing injury in the community though education and professional development programs.
“Our outstanding physicians and facilities ensure that we can treat any patient quickly and effectively,” said Stephen Mills, the hospital’s president. “We also have a commitment to preventing injury before it occurs through community education. This is the level of care the residents of Queens expect and deserve.”
