Humana will move its office and 120 employees in Jacksonville, Fla., from the city’s downtown SunTrust Tower to two smaller south side locations, The Daily Record reported.
Humana will leave its 35,000 square-foot downtown space and in early August will transfer more than 80 workers in leadership, administrative and network positions to a 13,500 square-foot space in Prominence office park.
By mid-August, Humana will transfer about 40 Humana and CarePlus Health Plans sales agents and customer service employees to a 5,500 square-foot space in Jacksonville-based Merchants Walk shopping center, The Daily Record reported.
The move will position the company’s sales and service employees closer to members, Humana spokesperson Mitch Lubitz told the The Daily Record. In addition, the decrease in space reflects the high number of Humana’s northeast Florida associates telecommuting from home.
Hartford, Conn.-based Aetna will also move its Jacksonville office from the downtown area to the south side. Eight hundred employees will be moved by August 2017, The Daily Record reported.
The two insurers are currently seeking approval for a $37 billion merger agreement. The deadline for the agreement was recently extended from June 30 to Dec. 31, as the insurers only gained approval from 17 out of 20 required states.
