The floor has been renamed the John Shay Medical/Surgical Unit and renovations concluded Aug. 8, according to a news release from Dansville-based UR Medicine Noyes Health.

The upgrade has helped the hospital’s average patient flow increase to 35 to 40 patients per day, up from 20 to 25 per day.

“We are becoming the transfer center for the southern region so that folks can get the care they need, close at home, from the providers they need to get that care from,” Chad Teeters, MD, president and CEO of UR Medicine Noyes Health, said in the release. “This unit is going to make that possible.”

The new floor is named after a supporter of the hospital who died in 2021.
