New Mexico hospital approved for $80M cancer center

Sante Fe, N.M.-based Christus St. Vincent Regional Medical Center has been approved by the city council to construct a new $80 million cancer center on its campus, the Sante Fe New Mexican reported Oct. 13.

The facility was controversial to some residents, who believed it would cause more traffic, block views and create too much noise in the area. The council ruled it would not cause more traffic and approved the center’s dimensions included in its design plans. 

The new center will be 80,880 square feet. It is slated to open in 2024, according to a Jan. 17 news release from Christus Health.
