Michael Jordan donated $10 million to Novant Health New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington, N.C., in honor of his mother, according to a Nov. 18 news release shared with Becker’s.
Mr. Jordan, who has a long-standing partnership with Novant Health, has, to date, donated a total of $27 million to the Novant Health Foundation. An unveiling and dedication will be held in early 2026 for the Novant Health Deloris Jordan Neuroscience Institute.
Mr. Jordan’s gift will help advance brain health research. Institute patients will also receive advanced care through technology, expert physicians and programs for complex conditions like Alzheimer’s diagnosis, Parkinson’s disease, stroke and spine treatment.
“My mother taught me the importance of compassion and community, and I can’t think of a better way to honor her than by helping to ensure those in need can obtain the most advanced neurological care available,” Mr. Jordan said in the release. “I’m proud to continue to partner with Novant Health to expand access to world-class healthcare in my hometown and to support my mother’s work and interest in global health and wellness.”
