The 30,000-square-foot, 30-bed expansion includes additional acute, neonatal intensive care and medical/surgical beds. The project also enhanced the Pediatric Bone Marrow Transplant, Cardiac Surgical Intensive Care and Congenital Heart Disease programs.

In addition, the children’s hospital added a lead-lined room to provide radiation therapy for patients with the cancer neuroblastoma. There are fewer than 10 lead-lined rooms in the United States, according to the report.
