Maryland puts forward $100M for new hospital

Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan announced he will put $100 million into building a new University of Maryland Medical System hospital in Easton, ABC affiliate WMAR2 reported Dec. 15.

The proposed facility includes a 325,000-square-foot hospital building and an adjacent 60,000-square-foot medical office.

To request the state to build the new facility, the Baltimore-based University of Maryland Medical System will submit a certificate of need by the end of the month.

"This is an idea that the community has been pleading for for years if not decades," Mr. Hogan said. "It's desperately needed and we are finally in a financial position to make this critical investment."
