The hospital had a deal with Edith Dixon, a longtime supporter of the hospital who promised $1 million in funding if the hospital could match the donation. A $25,000 donation from Machias Savings Bank pushed the hospital over the top and secured the $1 million match.
The renovation will include new patient suites and equipment as well as more private rooms and a new birthing center.
