Luminis Health Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, Md., has received a $10 million gift to establish the Earl Family Surgical Center.
Four things to know:
1. The gift from Sylvia, Matthew and Bridget Earl will support the surgical center and the hospital’s advanced surgical suite project, according to a July 8 health system news release that was shared with Becker’s.
2. The gift serves as the lead contribution to the hospital’s $20 million advanced surgical suite project, which will build five state-of-the-art operating and procedural rooms, including a hybrid operating room for advanced cardiovascular, neurovascular and other complex procedures.
3. The Earl family has supported the hospital since 1998. In 2013, the family established The James and Sylvia Earl Simulation to Advance Innovation and Learning Center, a facility focused on research, training and innovation to improve surgical and medical care.
4. The donation is one of the largest philanthropic investments in the hospital’s nearly 125-year history.
