Louisiana system plans $100M cancer center

Baton Rouge, La.-based Our Lady of the Lake Regional Medical Center is developing a three-phase plan to build a $100 million cancer institute, according to the Greater Baton Rouge Business Report.

The health system's board will consider the plan this fall, according to the report. Phase one would comprise imaging and therapeutics and is projected to take about 12 to 14 months. Phase two would be the consolidated clinic and phase three would be the development of a garage.

The 80,000-square foot Our Lady of the Lake Cancer Center Institute is expected to house surgical oncology, chemotherapy and infusion center, imaging and diagnostics and an on-site pharmacy.

Daniel Nuss, MD, will lead the new cancer institute, which includes 600 physicians from Our Lady of the Lake Physician Group and other physician partners.
