The $30 million project will be funded through a combination of cash reserves and bond financing, according to a news release from the health system. The new wing will include a new emergency room with 14 private rooms, a new surgical department with 12 bays, two operating suites, and two procedures rooms. The second floor will house 18 private rooms for inpatient treatment, four of which can be converted to critical care rooms.

WVU Health System President and CEO Albert Wright Jr., PharmD, said they pledged to strengthen and build upon Jackson General Hospital’s legacy of caring for its patients.

“Not only do we want to bring the care that people need here to Jackson County where they need it, but we want to make sure we’re delivering that care in a safe, high-quality environment,” Dr. Wright said.

Jackson General Hospital was founded in 1964 and is a non-profit critical access hospital that employs more than 300 people.
