Green Bay, Wis.-based HSHS St. Mary’s Hospital Medical Center broke ground Sept. 23 on a six-story inpatient bed tower.
The hospital is part of Springfield, Ill.-based Hospital Sisters Health System. HSHS has invested $270 million to revitalize its Northeast Wisconsin hospitals and select services, with a majority of those dollars going to the new inpatient bed tower, a spokesperson for the system confirmed with Becker’s.
The new bed tower will add more than 100 private rooms for medical, surgical and intensive care patients, according to a Sept. 23 news release shared with Becker’s.
The project will increase intensive care unit beds from eight to 36 and add two cardiovascular operating rooms and a dedicated cardiac procedural room. It will also free up space on the main hospital campus for new kitchen and dining facilities, enhanced security and expanded parking.
The full revitalization project at St. Mary’s is expected to be complete in 2028.
