Final designs and plans for an estimated $400 million HealthPartners hospital in Stillwater, Minn., were approved by the Stillwater City Council on May 6.

Four notes:

1. A groundbreaking for the 400,000-square-foot HealthPartners Lakeview Hospital is set for July, according to a May 7 news release shared with Becker’s from Bloomington, Minn.-based HealthPartners. The hospital is expected to open in early 2028.

2. The facility will include 97 patient beds, 13 operating rooms, specialty centers for heart and cancer care, a family birth center, urgent care services and an orthopedics clinic.

3. HealthPartners’ current Lakeview Hospital is often at more than 90% capacity. The population of St. Croix Valley is projected to grow by 5% over the next five years, with an 18% increase in residents over 65, according to a fact sheet shared with Becker’s.

4. HealthPartners purchased the land for the hospital in 2017. Design planning paused at the beginning of the pandemic and resumed in 2022.
