HCA proposes new $233M Virginia hospital

Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare is looking to build a new $233.6 million, 60-bed hospital in Ashland, Va., Richmond BizSense reported Jan. 6.

The health system intends to buy the Ashland plot of land for $14.5 million. The proposed hospital would be staffed by 600 HCA employees, most of whom would be existing local employees relocated to the new hospital.

HCA has filled out a certificate of public need as part of the new hospital approval process. The proposed hospital would be split into six intensive care beds and 54 medical beds.
