HCA plans $50M specialty hospital in Florida

HCA Healthcare's West Florida Division started building a $50 million hospital for endocrine surgery in Tampa, Fla., the health system said July 13.

The 75,000-square-foot specialty hospital will provide treatment for endocrine tumors and cancers and offer physicians a single-care center to refer patients with these conditions.

The hospital will house 16 private patient rooms, eight operating rooms and 38 pre- and postsurgery bays.

"At a single site in Tampa, we will have experienced endocrine surgeons working in a one-of-a-kind environment to create an exceptional patient and family friendly environment equipped with the latest technology and minimally invasive capabilities," said Ravi Chari, MD, president of HCA Healthcare West Florida. "This is a highly underserved patient population that will benefit greatly from surgery that leads to improved outcomes."
