HCA Florida buys plot of land for freestanding emergency room

Davie-based HCA Florida Healthcare, part of Nashville, Tenn.-based HCA Healthcare, purchased a $2.85 million plot of land in St. Cloud, Fla., with plans to build a new freestanding emergency room, Orlando Business Journal reported April 24.

The health system will build an 11-room freestanding ER on the 1.48-acre plot. Orlando Health St. Cloud Hospital is the closest hospital to the new site.

The news comes as the health system giant said that it sees land acquisition as a key part of its strategy in its recent earnings report.
