The 50,000-square-foot addition will be attached to the Hartford hospital’s Bliss Building. The expansion will add space for private beds, intensive care unit beds and larger operating rooms.

The system hinted at a “multimillion dollar project” earlier this month.

The project is expected to be completed within five years.
