The majority of funding to renovate the center — built in 1972 — into a seven-suite facility came from $55 million in bonds sold last year and roughly $33 million in foundation cash reserves.
The $1.2 million will help replenish the foundation’s reserves and maintain its bond rating, according to the News-Miner. Naming opportunities are set in place for those who donate at least $10,000.
The new facility will include specialized equipment and a speedway between the operating and recovery rooms, with hopes to recruit more surgeons. The center is projected to open April 2017.
