The three-story, 120,000-square-foot facility will operate under a joint venture with funding and governance split evenly between the two health systems. St. Luke’s will build and manage the hospital and both Geisinger and St. Luke’s will contribute physicians and specialty support staff.
The 80-bed hospital will house an emergency department and offer a full range of specialties.
The facility is expected to open in the fourth quarter of 2019.
This marks the first time in Pennsylvania’s history that two healthcare systems agreed to build and co-own a hospital.
